Thank you, Mmerikani, for this post, too. This and the others you have posted from Annie Duke have started me thinking a bit differently. Now reading some books Annie Duke mentioned in her posts (I subscribed, again, thanks to you), and am seeing some things that I needed at this point in my life. Grateful.
Isn't @AnnieDuke great?! Our go-go-go cultural upbringing (which is every culture now?) makes us forget to say: Hey! Am I even climbing up the right ladder? I've come around to there being seasons in our lives. A time to go-go-go and then, let us reevaluate our surroundings and goals, and change gears or course if we deem it more fruitful. Happy reassessing! I do believe we will get renewed energy from our new directions! :)
I used to tell my students, "Follow your dream. Never give up, never give in." From now on, however, I'm going to amend that with, "Unless it is no longer serving you. If you think it's not for you, it's OKAY to stop and find a new dream." I guess what we need is permission.
